Fish Eating during the classic era.

‘Atheneus’ in his book “The Deipnosophists” describes a very special group of people “Suffering” from a compulsion on fish eating.
The ’Fish-Mongers’ are of a very specific set of people who may spend their whole life and their entire fortune to find and taste the most rare Fish recipes.
Rumors have it that this set of people are the first and only ever capture and ate Telchines (Mermaids). Nowadays, one can easily describe them as heavily addicted ’Fish-a-cholics’. [ ! ]

Among this group of people you can find Hyperides, general in the Athenian wars against Phillip. Politician, perhaps the most successful and wealthy attorney of his times and patron to Phryne’, the most famous 'Etaira’ (courtesan) at the time and model for the ’Venus de Milo“ statue by ’Alexandros of Antioch’.

and if you don’ try them,
… well
… you don’t even know what you are missing.

Did you know that,

… there are more than half a dozen species of pelicans, but all of them have the famous throat pouch for which the birds are best known.

These large birds use their elastic pouches to catch fish—though different species use it in different ways.

‘Kokos’ and 'Christos’ however, our lovely mascots, are of the 'Rosy Pelican’ (Pelecanus onocrotalus) family, also known as the Great White.
