Romanticism: if 60% of online content is about Man then it is closely related to the idea of romanticism- the movement which manifested dynamism, individuality and the unpredictable love and our attraction to destruction.
Assuming that the body is the temple of the soul, consequently the vagina is the ‘gate’ to eternity and its projection becomes ritual.
The evolution of humanity from matriarchal to patriarchal societies, weighed down the dynamic and the ruling nature of the vagina by means of morality, discrimination and prejudice.
In the 21st century the post-materialistic urban societies of existential security modified certain social behaviors. The various sexual orientations and their acceptance is a characteristic of this era. The role of the modern woman in society and the exoneration of love/sex, feature the vagina as a”gate of individual freedom” (beyond its unquestionable multidimensional nature).
The exhibition “FAKE ROMANTICISM” is a research based presentation of paintings, notes and a fanzine, published by the artist, about the vagina.
The Fanzine, describes myths, rituals, creatures and objects of worship from different peoples and religions. His paintings are characterized by possessing clear semiology and a size that gives the vagina a monumental quality. The interpretation of the works can be considered multidimensional: erotic, metaphysical, existential, sociological, as well as religious.
