The Group's history begins in 1980, when the first retail store of batteries opens in Athens. Within 24 years, it managed to become the largest Specialised Chain of Stores of Telecommunication Goods and Services in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. In 1990 the first GERMANOS Store through franchising was established, a move that had a significant impact on the Group's future course. Important business initiatives followed, such as the acquisition of SUNLIGHT Industrial Complex in 1991, the entrance in the Eastern European market in 1992 and the operation in the mobile telephony sector in 1994. The rapid evolution in the mobile telephony market at the end of the 90's, found GERMANOS fully prepared and equipped in terms of intelligence, expertise and infrastructure, so as to meet the consumers' needs. GERMANOS Group of Companies acquired the unique privilege to offer services of mobile telephony providers COSMOTE and TELESTET since 1998, fixed telephony providers OTE and TELLAS since 2002 and 2003 respectively, and VODAFONE services since 2003. At the same time, as for the Eastern European countries, Germanos Group Of Companies provides the best of Telecommunication Goods and Services through an extensive, dynamic Chain of Stores in Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, F.Y.R.O.M. and Cyprus. Based on the acquired expertise of Specialised Retail, GERMANOS Group of Companies attains 24.7% of the market share of Hellenic Duty Free Shops. And the Group's route is yet to continue
